Considerations for Windows Vista and Windows 2008
Server with Microsoft Office 2007
Under Windows Vista and Windows 2008 Server with Microsoft
Office 2007, when using the Office-specific PrintJob classes from a
system service or a web service, an user must be logged in to the
machine at all times. This requirement applies to ASP and ASP.NET
alike.
If an user cannot be logged in to the machine for some reason,
then the following alternative approaches can be considered:
- Consider running Windows 2003 Server, which does not have this
requirement.
- Downgrade to Office 2003, which does not have this requirement
when running under Windows Vista or Windows 2008 Server.
- GenericPrintJob
works under Windows Vista and Windows 2008 Server with Office 2007
even when no user is logged in, although it does not offer any of
the advanced Office-specific settings. It will not convert
Microsoft Word hyperlinks and bookmarks into PDF either.
