Do I need to have an Interactive User Session logged into the machine?

Last Updated: April 4, 2014

It depends on your system. We have recently managed to add a workaround to WordPrintJob, but this relies on tools only available in Microsoft Word 2010 and above. If you have Microsoft Office 2010 and easy PDF SDK 7 or above you will not need to worry.  If you are using one of the following Operating Systems; Windows Vista, 7, 8, Windows Server 2008 and 2012, you will need to choose one of the four options below:

  1. Keep an Interactive User Session logged into the machine at all times.
  2. Use WordPrintJobEx. Be aware that WordPrintJobEx requires either Word 2013, 2010, or Word 2007 plus the free "Save as PDF or XPS" add-in from Microsoft.
  3. Use Word 2010 or 2013, which work fine with WordPrintJob on the server side, regardless of the operating system.
  4. Use Windows Server 2003, which works fine with WordPrintJob on the server side, regardless of the Office version.
